Information in general: Introduction:
The teaching method DNM1989 gives a professional qualification in visual arts, which incorporates a range of current practices. Students develop both practical art skills and the ability to work with concepts, develop skills in analyzing and critical art evaluation. The program generates and develops individual art working method. Teach out theoretical/technical use of traditional and contemporary equipment, cultural/historical and other contexts related to art. The program emphasizes the development of each student artistic interest, and supports individual approaches to art. Successful completion of this qualification will give students the knowledge, skills, experience and professional aptitude to take up high studies or work such as practicing artist.

Mission. The school's curriculum is designed to provide the students with a conscious understanding of contemporary art photography and traditional photography as art. The goal is to develop the student's ability to communicate visually throughout personal expression. In addition to core papers of two years, students will have areas of study in visual art studio, stage photography and social documentary; students will work in traditional photography and digital media. Along side of the teaching program, students study visual perception method DNM1989 theoretically and practically, which focuses largely on light modulating, analyzing art history and history of traditional photography.

Year one. Students will have major areas of studies, traditional black and white laboratory, color laboratory, digital media, studio visual art and creative assignments designed by DNM1989 Teaching Method in stage and documentary photography.

Studio one program introduce the principles in picture communication language; addressing processes in picture media and visual language. Students start visual art studio practical exploration in stage photography, and learn to analyze the relations between concept, context and methodology in the domain of communicative visual art.

Theory. Lectures aim to develop a broad historical awareness in art history and contemporary art photography. Adaptation to critical concepts and contexts enable students to understand the importance of visual communication language. Through reflection on theory, history and philosophy aesthetics, students investigate conceptual and cultural aspects related to their own cultural and historical backgrounds! The functions in visual art practice are seen in relation to a range of context in the creative assignments of DNM1989 Teaching Method.

Year two: Students have two major areas of study. In Visual Art Studio II students continue with their designated curriculum area of traditional photography, as well as in digital media. The visual theory builds on year one, covering a wide range of theoretical and philosophical issues related to the student's own art making and participating in international workshops.

Studio discussions aim to help students clarify and develop individual areas of interest in stage photography, to recognize, develop methods and skills suitable to their own principles. Through practical and theoretical abilities, students explore concepts, contexts and limits related to their chosen arena of interest, and identify possibilities for future focus. A series of extensional lectures with individual research topics involving library research, gallery visits, and critical reviews, analysis of art works and critical discussions of the studio works. Each student work with his own project for the final exam exhibition.

International workshop provides opportunities to work in foreign countries under international local artists. The workshops expedition of four to five weeks is common for the first and second year classes. Earlier journeys went to Morocco, Mexico, Cuba, Russia, South-Africa, Thailand, France, Germany, USA and China. The journeys plan is based on DNM1989 Teaching Method in cooperation’s with local art academies and universities. OPAS workshops journeys plans in social documentary, stage photography and performance. The workshops are planned according to the countries regulations and cultural background. Student’s do ahead of research studies lying on the countries they are traveling to. OPAS try’s to exhibit students works in the visited countries. The purpose of these international workshops is to provide a visual experience in a new light and in a new cultural environment. Students gain awareness of their capability.

Student's evaluation and competence. The level of accomplishment and enthusiasm for learning of every student is continuously evaluated. Students meet frequently with instructors individually and in groups for discussions. Assignments are evaluated by the daily leader. To achieve “approved learning" every student has to deliver at least 85% of the assignments and complete the evaluation as defined by DNM1989 Teaching Method. A record of attendance at scheduled class meetings is maintained. To achieve “approved learning”, cumulative absence can not exceed 15%. The second year students are required to submit own projects work for a final exhibition.

School year duration. Autumn semester begins at the first week of September and lasts until Desember 18th.
Spring semester begins at the first week in January and ends Thursday June 4, 2009

A completed application form for enrolment. A portfolio (no larger than A4) containing representative 12-24 sample of all your work that reflects your potential. You can send photos by mail include originals and photographs of your work. You should include photos of drawings as well.

Second year: Student admissions are based on the applicant adshivemment in her or his first year as a student and participate at the first year exhibition show.
